We don’t get to choose the family we’re born into.
We do get to choose what relationships we continue to nurture as we get older, however.
I’m grateful to have an awesome family, albeit we don’t get many opportunities to get everyone together.
Busy work schedules and long distances make it spending quality time with each other difficult.
I was inspired to put together F.A.M. today because as I spend time in Houston for the Texas Trucking Show, I had the opportunity to visit my brother who lives and works in Katy, 30 miles west.
It was a short visit but totally worth it. He’s family!
Power Acronym 181: F.A.M.
Fellowship
Appreciation
Meaning
While blood is the strongest tie, I have also been thinking about the bonds that connect people beyond geneology.
As I close out today’s Texas Trucking Show and reflect on the relationships I’ve been fortunate to have built in the logistics industry through the Trucking For Millennials Podcast and other events the last 5 years, there’s a family vibe in the work domain of life as well.
This feeling of family is connected through F.A.M.
Fellowship at home, church, weddings, graduations, trade shows, conferences, parties, or dinner.
Appreciation of others life story, skillset, specialization, drive, or other quality.
A shared sense of Meaning through common values, shared pursuits, or active collaboration toward the same goal.
