The love and commitment I've seen mothers share for children, even those that are not their own, is compelling to consider.

Optimism
Some people are more optimistic than others. I don't know if that's a a nature or nurture thing. Probably some of both.
The weight of responsibility when becoming a parent must be heavy. I'm not a parent so I can't write from that experience.
Keeping a kid alive is an achievement in itself.
Equipping them to thrive in today's world?
Powerful.
So I'll put it this way:
Celebrate the small things.
Focus on today, the now.
Tomorrow isn't promised anyway.
Show up the best you can with what you have.
Love will find a way.
Meaning
Yesterday's trip to Edgewood for the Methodist Men's BBQ also provided the opportunity to connect with church members I've known my entire life.
Several were my teachers through grade school. Most of which are mothers themselves, some for my friends.
How often is it that it isn't only our mom that we experience the miraculous power of motherhood?
A community of women from different life experiences shepherding children along as they grow.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case for some kids. Orphans or children in bad homes may not have the chance to have loving motherly figures in their life.
Which I think makes today that much more important.
Celebrate motherhood.
